Massachusetts sees only 2 COVID-19 deaths in today’s report, increase in hospitalizations

Massachusetts saw a increase in hospitalizations and deaths in Wednesday’s COVID-19 report.

Massachusetts has seen 338 more positive cases announced in the last 24 hours. A decrease from the previous 24 hour period. The 7 day weighted average positive test rate sits at 2.2%.

The Massachusetts Department of Health statistics show a rise in total cases to 111,371 with 2 more reported dead for a total of 8,438.

Massachusetts had seen 438 more positive cases in the previous 24 hour period.

13,312 tests were performed, over 3,900 more than yesterday, to increase the overall total to 1,636,875. The amount of individuals tested is now 1,251,322.

Hospitalizations have decreased in 69 of the last 87 days, however, they saw an increase of 42 today to see the total rise to 396.

Massachusetts residents subject to COVID-19 quarantine by current status up to August 5th
• Total of individuals subject to quarantine: 75,771
• Total of individuals who have completed monitoring (no longer in quarantine): 72,919
• Total of individuals currently undergoing monitoring/under quarantine: 2,852

According to the CDC, as of August 5th, the total amount of COVID-19 cases in the country is 4,748,806 with 156,311 dead.
