Massachusetts sees 2nd straight day of COVID-19 hospitalization increases, weekly MA city, town reports released

Massachusetts saw an increase in hospitalizations for the second straight day in Wednesday’s COVID-19 report.

Massachusetts has seen 315 more positive cases announced today. A decrease from Tuesday’s report. The 7 day weighted average positive test rate remains at 1.1%.

Massachusetts had seen 349 more positive cases announced yesterday.

The Massachusetts Department of Health statistics show a rise in total cases to 117,085 with 26 more reported dead for a total of 8,755.

19,744 tests were performed, over 3,000 less than Saturday’s report, to increase the overall total to 2,194,342. The amount of individuals tested is now 1,624,496.

Hospitalizations have decreased in 81 of the last 107 days, however, hospitalizations increased 29 today to see the total increase to 356.

Massachusetts residents subject to COVID-19 quarantine by current status up to August 26th
• Total of individuals subject to quarantine: 80,709
• Total of individuals who have completed monitoring (no longer in quarantine): 77,940
• Total of individuals currently undergoing monitoring/under quarantine: 2,769

According to the CDC, as of August 26th, the total amount of COVID-19 cases in the country is 5,752,653 with 177,759 dead.
