Massachusetts schools see increase to 523 new COVID-19 cases, see where your community stands

COVID-19 cases among Massachusetts schools increased this week along with decreases and increases in some area communities.

According to the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, a total of 377 new COVID-19 cases were reported among K-12 students from March 4 to March 10. 146 were reported for staff making the overall total in Massachusetts schools for the past week at 523.

The last report, which was for February 25 to March 3, revealed that 476 tested positive. 343 of the positives were students and 133 were staff.

The report only includes positive cases of students and staff who have been in school for either in-person or hybrid learning. Remote learning cases are not counted.

Here are the statistics from some area cities and towns from March 4 to March 10.

Acushnet: No cases
Attleboro: 3 students
Dartmouth: No cases
Fairhaven: 1 student and 1 staff
Fall River: 1 student and 5 staff
New Bedford: 7 students and 2 staff
Plymouth: 1 student
Seekonk: 3 student and 1 staff
Somerset: No cases
Swansea: No cases
Taunton: 1 student and 1 staff
Westport: 1 student

Fall River had the 4th most staff cases in the state. New Bedford ranked 8th in student cases.
