Massachusetts school resource officer’s quick thinking saves high school student
Quick thinking by a police officer in Massachusetts saved a student this week.
According to Police Chief Bill McGrath, on Thursday, School Resource Officer Todd Schwalbe was having a typical day, floating back and forth from the elementary schools in Wrentham to King Philip High School when, all of a sudden, the day wasn’t so typical.
Officer Schwalbe was alerted that a King Philip student who had been enjoying his lunch was choking.
SRO Schwalbe came to the rescue, performing the Heimlich maneuver on the juvenile, effectively dislodging a piece of Salisbury steak from his blocked airway.
Officer Schwalbe called Wrentham Fire Department Rescue to the scene to evaluate the student who ended up doing just fine.
And then? Well, SRO Todd reverted back to his typical self on a typical day, ready and waiting in case things get not so typical again!
