Massachusetts passes 9,000,000 tests and 250,000 cases of COVID-19 as positive test rate, hospitalizations increase

Massachusetts saw yet another increase in hospitalizations and active cases in Monday’s COVID-19 report.

Massachusetts has seen 2,463 more positive cases announced today. A decrease from Sunday’s report. The 7 day weighted average positive test rate increased to 5.46%. The rate was 3.3 two weeks ago.

Massachusetts had seen 4,747 more positive cases announced yesterday.

The Massachusetts Department of Health statistics show a rise in total confirmed cases to 250,022 with 30 more reported dead for a total of 11,035.

The overall amount of tests administered in Massachusetts is now 9,013,556 after 43,304 new molecular tests.

The 3 day average of COVID-19 deaths decreased to 34.

Estimated active cases increased to 58,452.

Hospitalizations have increased in 62 of the last 84 days and 37 of the last 43, but saw an increase by 100 to see the total raise to 1,516.

According to the December 3rd report, Fall River has a 75.3 Average Daily Incident Rate per 100,000 (Last 14 days) (92.3 last week) which is the fourth highest in the state. New Bedford sits at 48.3 (was 45.6). Westport is also in the red at 44.8 (was 49.0), Swansea is at 51.5 and was 69.0 last week, and Somerset saw a decrease to 50.1 (was 57.5). Freetown saw their rate increase as it now sits at 33.2 from 31.6. Dartmouth is currently at 47.7

• Total of individuals currently undergoing monitoring/under quarantine: 10,987

As of December 7th, according to the CDC, the United States has seen 14,636,914 cases of COVID-19 with 281,253 reported deaths.
