A Massachusetts father has been arrested after an alleged incident with a gun at a school.

According to Worcester Police, on Thursday, Worcester police were called to Doherty High School to gather information about a parent who was believed to have brought a firearm into the school on Wednesday at approximately 1:52 p.m. in search of another student who was having issues with his daughter.

The suspect was identified as 41-year-old Jerome Weekes of Canton.

A Worcester police officer conducted interviews from witnesses and gathered video evidence.

Officers learned that on Wednesday, Weekes was seen with a handgun inside his vehicle which was parked outside the school building. Weekes entered the building with his daughter after school was dismissed and he had an object in the front pocket of his sweatshirt which appeared to be a handgun. The pair walked to a specific classroom and looked around. They then proceeded to search hallways and corridors. After a short period of time, both then exited the building without incident.

During the investigation, officers developed probable cause to seek an arrest warrant for Weekes.

Officers made contact with law enforcement partners at the Canton Police Department regarding the warrant. Canton police officers were able to locate Weekes on Friday evening and placed him under arrest.

Weekes is being charged with carrying a firearm on a campus.
