Massachusetts family finds headstone covered in paint on 14th anniversary of loved one’s murder
Family of a Massachusetts teenager that was reportedly shot to death are looking to move her out of a local cemetery after an act of vandalism.
16-year-old Chantel Lamay Matiyosus was gunned down in Brockton on April 25th, 2009, in an act of senseless violence at a baby shower.
On the 14th anniversary of her death, family went to visit her grave to discover Chantel’s stone covered in paint.
Friends and family members reportedly spent hours trying to remove the paint.
To make matters worse, according to family members, a suspect in Chantel’s death is eligible for release soon.
Due to the vandalism of Chantel’s stone, her older sister Tiffany created a GoFundMe fundraiser to raise money to remove Chantel from where she is and have her cremated to be with her mother.
“We cannot grieve in peace. Chantel is not at rest, but I will not give up until we can do something about this or raise this money to give her mother what she deserves which is her daughter to rest peacefully.”
