Massachusetts estimated COVID-19 active cases drop below 60,000, positive test rate lowest since November 10th

Massachusetts saw a decrease in active cases, hospitalizations and positive test rate in Friday’s COVID-19 report.

Massachusetts saw 2,982 more positive cases announced today. An increase from Thursday’s report. The 7 day weighted average positive test rate saw yet another decrease to 3.16%. Today’s rate is the lowest it has been since November 10th.

Massachusetts had seen 2,602 more positive cases announced yesterday.

The Massachusetts Department of Health statistics show a rise in total confirmed cases to 510,148 with 75 more reported dead (74 confirmed, 1 probable) for a total of 14,859 (14,563 confirmed, 296 probable).

The overall amount of tests administered in Massachusetts is now 14,082,912 after 127,468 new molecular tests.

The 7 day average of COVID-19 deaths is currently 42.4.

Estimated active cases saw another decrease to 59,934.

Hospitalizations have increased in 91 of the last 142 days and 66 of the last 101, but saw a decrease of 51 to lower the total to 1,503. COVID-19 hospitalizations have continued to decrease as of late as there were 2,428 in the Bay State on January 4th. December 5th was the last time that COVID-19 hospitalizations were this low.

Weekly COVID-19 Public Health Report

According to the February 4th report, Fall River has a 83.6 Average Daily Incident Rate per 100,000 (Last 14 days) (99.6 last week). New Bedford saw a decrease to 83.4 (was 107.3). Westport is also in the red at 50.3 (was 63.5), Swansea is at 75.2 and was 86.0 last week. Somerset also saw a decrease as they sit at 72.9 (was 79.1). Freetown decreased to 52.9 from 78.1. Dartmouth is currently at 55.6 after seeing 68.0 last week. Acushnet is currently at 82.7 (was 105.3).

• Total of individuals currently undergoing monitoring/under quarantine: 20,776

Massachusetts Officials have now also issued a “vaccine doses administered and shipped” report updated on February 4th.

As of February 5th, according to the CDC, the United States has seen 26,523,297 cases of COVID-19 with 454,209 reported deaths.
