Massachusetts COVID-19, death rate, hospitalizations, and 7 day positive test rate all decrease as today’s positive cases increase

Massachusetts saw a decrease in death rate and hospitalizations in Sunday’s COVID-19 report.

Massachusetts has seen 744 more positive cases announced today. An increase from Saturday’s report. The 7 day weighted average positive test rate decreased to 1.2% from 1.3%. After four increases in five days, the rate has dropped for two straight days.

Massachusetts had seen 550 more positive cases announced yesterday.

The Massachusetts Department of Health statistics show a rise in total confirmed cases to 140,647 with 14 more reported dead for a total of 9,517.

15,588 tests were performed on new individuals, over 2,100 more than yesterday’s report, to increase the amount of individuals tested to 2,514,633. The overall amount of tests administered in Massachusetts is now 5,168,943.

The 3 day average of COVID-19 deaths decreased to 18 from 21.

Hospitalizations have increased in 21 of the last 34 days, but decreased by 17 today to see the total rise to 483.

It was announced yesterday that Fall River is now in the red with an 8.5% Average Daily Incidence Rate per 100,000 (Last 14 days). Fairhaven sits at 9.8%. New Bedford continues to be in the red at 12.2%. Plymouth is in the red at 12.8%, Dartmouth is in at 9.7%. Berkley moves into the red at 9.5%. Acushnet remains in the red at 13.7%. Attleboro remains in the red at 12.7%.

According to the CDC, as of October 18th, the total amount of COVID-19 cases in the country is 8,081,489 with 218,511 dead.

Saturday’s total reported cases of COVID-19 in the United States was the highest total since July 24th.
