Massachusetts COVID-19 active cases, positive test rate, and hospitalizations increase in today’s report

Massachusetts saw an increase in active cases, positive test rate, and hospitalizations in Monday’s COVID-19 report.

Massachusetts saw 892 more positive cases announced today. A decrease from Sunday’s report. The 7 day weighted average positive test rate increased to 1.67%. Sundays 1.66% was the lowest it has been since October 22nd.

Massachusetts had seen 1,281 more positive cases announced yesterday.

The Massachusetts Department of Health statistics show a rise in total confirmed cases to 559,975 with 18 more reported dead (18 confirmed, 0 probable) for a total of 16,435 (16,103 confirmed, 332 probable).

The overall amount of tests administered in Massachusetts is now 16,866,613 after 41,062 new molecular tests.

The 7 day average of confirmed COVID-19 deaths is currently 32.3.

Estimated active cases saw a rare as of late increase today to 27,369.

Hospitalizations have increased in 94 of the last 169 days and 69 of the last 128 and saw an increase of 7, to raise the total to 672. COVID-19 hospitalizations have decreased as of late as there were 2,428 in the Bay State on January 4th. Before today’s increase, yesterday’s total was the lowest since November 11th.

Weekly COVID-19 Public Health Report

According to the March 4th report, Fall River has a 22,7 Average Daily COVID-19 Rate per 100,000 population (Last 14 days) (27.0 last week). New Bedford saw a decrease to 23.6 (was 31.6). Westport also saw a decrease to 18.3 (was 26.4), Swansea is at 20.2 and was 27.3 last week. Somerset also saw a decrease as they sit at 21.2 (was 22.8). Freetown decreased to 32.4 from 35.5. Dartmouth is currently at 23.9 after seeing 27.7 last week. Acushnet saw 31.4 (was 41.7).

19 Massachusetts communities are still in the red (high risk). Blackstone, Chicopee, Clinton, Fall River, Freetown, Hadley, Haverhill, Lawrence, Ludlow, Lynn, Methuen, New Bedford, Peabody, Plainville, Springfield, Sterling, Sutton, West Bridgewater, and Weymouth.
