BILLERICA – Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan has confirmed that a Middlesex County Grand Jury has indicted Alexander Tine, a Corrections Officer at the Billerica House of Correction. He has been charged with two counts of assault and battery and filing a false report in an alleged assault on an incarcerated individual that occurred during his shift.
On June 29th, 2026, the victim extended his feet and arm through the handcuff port opening of his cell. Corrections Officer Tine approached the cell and appeared to communicate with the victim. Approximately seven seconds later, Officer Tine allegedly lifted his right leg and forcefully pushed the victim’s foot through the port. After his foot cleared the port, the victim placed his arm into the opening. Officer Tine then allegedly grasped the port door with his left hand and attempted to close it with the victim’s arm still in the opening, which prevented the door from closing. In response, Officer Tine repeatedly struck the door with his right knee. After approximately 2-3 strikes, the victim withdrew his arm and the door closed.
Following the incident, Officer Tine allegedly submitted a written report, stating that the victim was grabbing, hitting, and spitting at him. That version of events was not supported by the evidence.
Alexander Tine will be arraigned in Middlesex Superior Court on Wednesday.
