Man reportedly injured allegedly jumping from “The Ledge” in Freetown/Fall River State Forest
A man has been reportedly injured jumping from what is known as “The Ledge” at the Freetown/Fall River State Forest on Sunday.
According to scanner transmissions, just after 3:30 p.m., a call came in stating the jumper wasn’t breathing and was unconscious and that CPR was being performed. It was later determined that the jumper was breathing, but unconscious.
The rough and difficult terrain in the forest made it difficult to quickly get to the 19-year-old victim. First responders on scene determined that the man needed a medflight to land at Hathaway Park to be transported to the hospital.
Medflight 1 transported the patient to a Boston Hospital at approximately 4:20 p.m.
According to Freetown Police Chief Carlton Abbott, the 19-year-old from East Wareham man had fallen approximately 90 feet from the top of the ledge into the water below and had been removed from the water by friends.
The extend of the patient’s injuries is currently unknown.
This is a developing story.
