Fall River COVID-19 cases continue overall decline

Fall River has seen more positive cases of COVID-19 in Sunday’s report.

14 additional cases of COVID-19 have been identified in Fall River for the past two days combined, according to the Mayor’s Office. 6 from Saturday and 8 from Sunday. This brings the total in Fall River to 1,484.

The Fall River Health Department is in contact with the individuals who have tested positive as well as their contacts.

The death toll from the coronavirus in Fall River remains at 79 as the City does not receive fatality updates on weekends.

The Massachusetts Department of Public Health started Monday reporting both confirmed and probable COVID-19 cases and deaths dating back to March 1, 2020.

Monday’s report added only 3 additional cases. 15 cases were announced on Tuesday. On Wednesday, 10 more cases were announced. Thursday’s update revealed an increase of 39 cases, many of them in nursing homes, according to Mayor Coogan. Friday saw 10 additional cases. Saturday the City did not issue an update.

Governor Charlie Baker signed an executive order on May 1, 2020 requiring face coverings in public places where social distancing is not possible. This order is effective May 6, 2020 and will remain in effect until rescinded or until the emergency is terminated.
