UPDATE: Victim’s name released in fatal pedestrian crash Monday in Fall River
A man was killed Monday evening in a pedestrian crash.
According to Lieutenant Jay Huard, at approximately 7:47 p.m., the Fall River Police Department and EMS responded to the area of 600 Second Street, in regards to a motor vehicle vs. pedestrian accident. Officers arrived and located a male trapped under a vehicle. The pedestrian victim was freed from under the vehicle and was transported to St. Anne’s Hospital, where he ultimately passed away.
Major Crimes Detectives, Accident Reconstruction, and Crime Scene Unit responded to the scene for a follow-up investigation. The investigation revealed that the pedestrian had fallen in the roadway prior to being struck.
The operator of the vehicle involved is listed as a 52-year-old male. He was summoned into Fall River Second District Court for operating a vehicle with no license. He has not been cited at this point for the accident.
According to the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office, the victim in the crash is 47-year-old Wilson Miranda and the accident investigation is ongoing.

Why is the name of the driver not being published? The Freedom of Information Act requires it be accessible. Leaves one to consider a cover up is being manipulated.

It is common for police to not release a driver’s name if they haven’t been charged in the death.
