Man facing several charges, victim’s name released after fatal Lakeville crash injures several

LAKEVILLE — Chief Matthew Perkins and the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office report that the Lakeville Police Department arrested and charged a Lakeville man in connection with a fatal crash on Main Street on Friday night.

At approximately 5:30 p.m., Lakeville Police were called to Main Street in the area of Elliot Farm for a report of a crash.

Officers arrived to discover a four-vehicle crash involving a Hyundai Santa Fe, Toyota Camry, Audi S4, and Chevrolet Silverado.

A passenger in the Camry, Richard Reed, age 75, of Lakeville, was declared dead at the scene. The Camry’s driver was taken to a local hospital for treatment of their injuries.

73-year-old David DeLorenzo of Lakeville, identified as the driver of the Santa Fe, was transported to Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton, and then charged upon his release from the hospital.

The driver of the Audi was taken to St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford for treatment of their injuries. The driver of Chevrolet Silverado was treated at the scene.

DeLorenzo was arrested and charged with Motor Vehicle Homicide, Operating Under the Influence of Liquor, Operating Under the Influence of Liquor Causing Serious Bodily Injury, Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Speeding and Marked Lanes Violation.

DeLorenzo is being held on $10,000 cash bail over the weekend and will be arraigned Monday in Wareham District Court.

Lakeville Police are investigating the crash with assistance from the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office and the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section.
