A local man who was found deceased after being hit by multiple vehicles on an area highway is being remembered.

According to Rhode Island State Police, at just before 8:45 p.m., on Tuesday, Troopers responded to multiple 911 calls for a crash involving a tow truck and a pedestrian in the first lane of travel on Route 295 Northbound in Cumberland.

Upon arrival, Troopers observed 24-year-old Zakiah Hightower Kidd in the roadway with fatal injuries. The tow truck pulled over and remained on scene.

A preliminary investigation revealed Kidd was laying in the roadway prior to being struck by the tow truck, and then two other vehicles.

While the investigation is ongoing, no charges or citations have been issued to the operator of the tow truck or other vehicles involved.

According to a GoFundMe fundraiser, Kidd “was very kind. He had a big heart and did anything he could for the ones he loved. My brother made music. He loved basketball. He enjoyed good times.”

Services have not yet been announced.
