Local man hits $1 million Powerball prize after hitting on lottery Quick Pick
A local man is the winner of a $1 million Powerball prize after the first five numbers on his Quick Pick ticket matched those selected in the game’s Monday, October 4 drawing.
Raymond Carey, of Seekonk, claimed his $1 million prize (before taxes) at the Massachusetts State Lottery’s Dorchester headquarters Tuesday, October 5.
Motivated by the game’s large jackpot, Carey bought his ticket at Quality Gas & Mart, 430 Taunton Avenue in Seekonk. The store will receive a $10,000 bonus for its sale.
A second $1 million prize won in Monday night’s drawing has yet to be claimed. That winning ticket was sold at Bradford Mobil Mart, 789 South Main Street in Haverhill.
A ticket sold at Downtown Convenience, 40 Boylston Street in Boston, won a $1 million prize in Saturday night’s Powerball drawing. That prize also remains unclaimed.
Prizes must be claimed within one year of the drawing.
One ticket sold in California for Monday’s drawing won the $699.8 million jackpot ($496 million cash option), the fifth-largest Powerball jackpot and seventh-largest jackpot in U.S. lottery history.
