Local doctor arrested on child sex charges, released on reduced bail
A local doctor, who was arrested on charges involving paying a 14 year old Attleboro boy for sex, has been released.
According to the Sun Chronicle,, 37 year old Sujan Kayastha, a married doctor from Dartmouth, had his bail decreased from $75,000 to $15,000 by Fall River Superior Court Judge Thomas McGuire. He must stay away from the alleged victim, along with anyone under 16, without supervision. Kayastha had his medical license suspended and he had to surrender his passport.
Kayastha has no GPS or curfew.
Kayastha, was released from his job at St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford.
Kayastha was booked on:
Possession of child pornography
Disseminating obscene matter to a minor (two counts)
Electronic enticement of a child for prostitution (two counts)
Trafficking of a person for sexual servitude
Upon being interviewed by investigators, Kayastha made admissions and incriminating statements.
