Here is where you can stay warm and get a free meal in Fall River during upcoming frigid temperatures

(FALL RIVER, MA- February 2, 2023)- The City of Fall River has released information on where you can stay warm and get a free meal ahead of frigid conditions expected throughout southern New England.

On Saturday, February 4th, Christ the Rock Church, located at 414 Rock Street in Fall River, will host a warming center from 8am – 4pm for anyone in need of temporary warming. Residents may drop in without calling.

In response to the upcoming cold weather, the First Step Inn and the Timao Center, Fall River’s overflow homeless shelter located at the Spindle City Church, are prepared to accommodate anyone in need of shelter. Those seeking overnight placement should contact the First Step Inn by calling 508-679-8001 or 508-974-9972. The First Step Inn is located at 134 Durfee Street, Fall River, MA 02720.

Residents can also contact a 24-hour hotline for shelter needs at 508-676-3528. The Mayor’s Office will also be answering calls over the weekend at 508-324-2600.

Street outreach workers from the City of Fall River and Steppingstone Inc have been and will continue to patrol the city to ensure that anyone in need of shelter has access.

In addition to City services, the Church of the Holy Spirit and First Baptist Church, assisted by the Greater Fall River Council of Churches, will be serving a free community meal at 6:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church (228 N Main St). Following the meal, the Church of the Holy Spirit (160 Rock St.) will remain open through the evening until Saturday morning.
