Harvest Moon set to arrive
According to NASA, the Harvest Moon is about to arrive.
This year’s Harvest Moon will occur at 2:40 p.m. EDT on Oct. 5. The moon will appear full for a few days before and after that day.
Look for a bright orange colored moon shortly after sunset.
NASA states the Harvest Moon is a moonrise for several days around the time of the full moon closest to the autumnal equinox. It occurs nearly at sunset. Before artificial lighting, this gave farmers extra time to cut and move ripened crops.
