Gift shop trip turned out to be life changing for Massachusetts woman after $1 million prize win
A Massachusetts woman who went to a gift shop to play a lottery drawing decided to buy a scratch ticket that became life changing.
According to the Massachusetts State Lottery, Andrea Lemar is the fifth $1 million prize winner in the Massachusetts State Lottery’s “Billion Dollar Extravaganza” instant ticket game, the Mass Lottery’s first $50 ticket.
Lemar, who is from Brockton, chose the cash option on her prize and received a one-time payment of $650,000 (before taxes). She plans to use some of her winnings to buy a new car.
She purchased her winning ticket at the Plainridge Park Casino gift shop while playing Mass Cash. Plainridge will receive a $10,000 bonus for its sale of this ticket.
