Former Fall River Mayor, City Council President, being remembered for many years of service to the city

A former Fall River mayor and longtime city councilor has passed away.

89-year-old Daniel Bogan died over the weekend and is being remembered for his many years of serve to the community.

Bogan was acting mayor from December 23, 1990 to June 25, 1991 after longtime mayor Carlton Viveiros resigned. He was a member of the Fall River City Council for 22 years and president for 14 which led to his short stint as mayor.

In addition to his political service, Bogan served our country as a member of the Army and served in the Korean War.

Bogan was also a member of several Board of Directors including the Chamber of Commerce, Associated Industries of Massachusetts, and a board member of the Fall River Five Cents Savings Bank.

Besides his stints in Fall River politics, Bogan may be best known for helping to bring the Lincoln Park carousel to the city.

His Funeral will be held on Friday at 9:00 a.m. from the Waring-Sullivan Home at Cherry Place, 178 Winter St., Fall River, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Name Church, 709 Hanover St., Fall River. Visiting hours will take place on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and burial will occur at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Fall River.
