A fire in Tiverton earlier this week caused injury and major damage.

According to the Tiverton Fire Department, at just after 10:45 a.m. on Tuesday, firefighters responded to Beth Road for a reported structure fire.

Upon arrival, crews found 2 motor vehicles on fire inside the garage below the house.

The intensity of the fire caused a rapid spread of fire into other areas of the home.

It took firefighters approximately 2 hours to bring the fire under control.

Mutual aid was called to the scene to provide additional manpower and equipment while other mutual aid covered the station.

There was 1 firefighter injury at the scene and that firefighter was treated and released from the hospital.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the State Fire Marshal and the Tiverton Fire Prevention office.
