A vigil was held Sunday by the family of a Fall River man who was shot and killed last month after an incident with police.

Family and friends held a vigil for 30-year-old Anthony Harden on Sunday outside of the Fall River Justice Center. A day after he was laid to rest. The event was organized to keep his case in the public eye. The family says they are looking for justice in Harden’s death.

According to a preliminary investigation, the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office stated that Fall River Police responded to a call from a Lowell Street resident regarding a domestic incident. Responding officers spoke with a female who said her boyfriend, Harden, had assaulted her a few days before.

Officers then made their way to Harden’s apartment on Melville Street. After police were allowed entry into the apartment, an altercation reportedly took place between Harden and the police. At some point during the struggle, two shots were fired by an officer. A knife was found at the scene.

The two officers immediately rendered aid to Harden and called for an ambulance, which arrived two minutes later. Harden was rushed to St. Anne’s Hospital, where he later died.

Harden’s family say they have not received any other information of what happened that night and are looking for answers.

The Bristol County District Attorney’s Office previously stated that they are investigating the incident. An update on the investigation has yet to be released.
