Family Foods Grocery Outlet announces pending closure
Another area small business is closing as Family Foods Grocery Outlet President Mike St Pierre announced on social media this evening that his business will be closing.
His statement is as follows:
“For the past 13 years, I have served Eastern Massachusetts to the best of my abilities with incredible deals on Groceries, Snacks and Frozen Foods.
“It is with great regret to our community that I announce the closure of Family Foods Grocery Outlet. It has been my honor serving our Members along the way.
“As many know, We lost the ability to accept EBT just 6 weeks ago and I accept full responsibility as I was not active enough at the store to stop it. Without EBT in a city such as Fall River we are unable to reach the sales numbers needed to operate in such a highly competitive space/location. With markets on every corner and free money being thrown around we got left behind and ultimately “beat by the big retailers”. Just as many small businesses are suffering the past 16 months we also took a major hit once Covid came about. When Covid hit we lost 40% of revenue instantly and remained at this level since then.
Someday in the future we will be missed and unfortunately, Many of us take for granted what was available, But only after it’s to late.
“Many of you know I will remain active in the business and know how to reach me for the deals;-)
“We will start a 25% off sale tomorrow, But only for our Members. We are not accepting new member signups nor are we accepting new customers.
“Anyone who purchased a Membership may come in for a full refund before Sept 1st and still shop our 25% off sale.
“I wish everyone the best! God Bless America!”

“Our business failed because free money is being thrown around to other businesses also because I can’t get any of that free EBT money anymore.” Ok dude lol. Just admit you’re bad at business and move on.

A clearer lead-in would be “A local area antigovernment, insurrectionist is closing his business after discovering that the social services that he so adamantly opposed were the reason his customers could afford to purchase his products”

Imagine trying to overthrow the very government that your own business depends upon in order to remain open. The schadenfreude in this article is so thick you can practically taste it.
