A Fall River woman was arrested for allegedly breaking into cars in the city.

Monday, March 19th at approximately 2:00 a.m., Officers of Fall River Police Department Uniform Division responded to the area of Palmer Street and Stafford Road on report of a suspicious female checking car door handles. The victim stated he confronted the female exiting his vehicle prior to calling the police and she fled in a Gray 2008 Hyundai with the keys to his other vehicle. The victim gave responding officers a description of the female and the plate number, make, model, and color of her getaway vehicle.

Approximately 30 minutes later while canvassing the area, Officer Andre Demelo observed the vehicle leaving the 900 block of Plymouth Avenue without headlights. Officer DeMelo activated his cruiser emergency lights and siren and stopped the vehicle. On approach to the vehicle, Officer DeMelo observed tools, totes, electronics, and car keys. The operator was asked about the items and gave evasive responses. Officer DeMelo with assistance from Officers David Gouveia and Thomas Roberts were able to locate four victims and return their property.

Katie J. Souza, 36 of 426 Robeson Street #1 Fall River was taken into custody on 6 charges of Breaking and Entering into a Vehicle for a Felony, 3 counts of Larceny over $250, 2 counts of Larceny under $250, and 1 count of Receiving Stolen Property.
