Massachusetts and Rhode Island experience 4.2 earthquake

The area experienced a big earthquake for this area of the country.

According to Earthquake Track, at about 9:10 a.m., a magnitude 4.2 earthquake was felt throughout the area.

The epicenter was located at 41.542, -70.883, 9.2 km from Bliss Corner (5.2 miles).

Reports of shaking for several seconds have been reported throughout southern New England.

According to Fall River Police, FRPD received numerous calls regarding minor damage inside people’s homes that consisted of items falling off of shelves. There were also reports of two street signs that became uprooted. There have been no reported injuries associated with the earthquake.

The last local earthquake was 4 months ago. A 2.1 magnitude in Osterville, Massachusetts.
