Fall River water and sewer rates to remain unchanged for second consecutive year
Budget discussion at Tuesday night’s City Council meeting revealed good news for Fall River residents.
City water rates will remain $4.24 per 100 cubic feet and sewer rates will remain $8.11 per 100 cubic feet in the fiscal 2027 budget.
Good news on debt changed what was originally thought to be a 5 percent increase for FY 2027 after rates remained unchanged in FY 2026.
Last year residents showed up at City Council meetings for several months to speak at citizens input against water and sewer rate increases. Many asked for a break stating they couldn’t afford anymore increases.
At special meeting for the City Council in April of 2025, Councilor Cliff Ponte made a motion that in effect kept the rates the same.
The motion initially failed 4-5, however, after discussion, the motion was reconsidered and passed unanimously.
