Fall River Police team up with Cops For Kids With Cancer to help Fall River family
On Monday, the Fall River Police Department teamed up with Cops For Kids With Cancer to present a donation to the family of Adonis.
When Adonis was only 2 months old, he was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma. A tumor was discovered in his spinal canal, which is the space between the spine and the vertebrae.
Retired Boston Police Captain Paul Ivens, Vice-President of Cops for Kids with Cancer, came to the Fall River Police Station to meet Adonis and his mother Brooke Richard and provide the family with a check to assist with the many expenses families face when fighting pediatric cancer. Chief Paul Gauvin, Fall River Police, was on hand for the presentation and to meet with the family along with other officers.
Brooke took to social media to express her thanks.
“When your family has to go through everything that we’ve endured and have to continue to truck through this uncertain and extremely hard times, life hits a low point. Things become unmanageable, unbearable and everything feels like it’s falling apart. It’s because of foundations like these that families like mine are able to get some help and make it by. God bless them and anyone who donates to them for the cause. It truly makes a difference.”
Cops for Kids with Cancer is a registered charitable organization focused on raising funds to provide assistance to families of children battling cancer. Founded in 2002 the organization started by donating money to oncology units at children’s hospitals; in 2008 direct donations began to be provided to families to help them with the many expenses these families face.
