A Fall River company and the city’s police department have combined to continue to touch the lives of those near and far.
Axis Bats and the Fall River Police Department have had a partnership for years that has resulted in donating bats to little leagues and fallen officers in the Massachusetts area and across the country and their newest tribute was hand delivered all the way to Nevada.
Austin Abdelnabi
Officer Austin Abdelnabi joined the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department on November 28, 2023, after earning a criminal justice degree from Clemson University. Before that, he served four years with the U.S. Marine Corps, deploying overseas twice. Officer Abdelnabi was assigned to the Southeast Area Command in the Community Safety Division. Officer Abdelnabi is remembered for his compassionate nature and his infectious smile. He was shot and killed last month responding to a person with a gun call. He is survived by his wife, Sage, his parents, and three siblings.
This week, Fall River Police Sgt. Michael Tetrault personally delivered a custom-made bat in his honor, and the department was clearly touched.
“We are incredibly grateful to Fall River Police Department Sgt. Tetrault for stopping by the Southeast Area and presenting us with a custom-made baseball bat in honor of our fallen officer, Austin Abdelnabi.
“Thank you, Sgt. Tetrault, for your incredible kindness, thoughtfulness, and support. This meaningful gesture will always be appreciated and remembered.
“We continue to honor Officer Austin Abdelnabi and the legacy he left behind.”
Previous donations have included bats for a Houston youth baseball league run by police officers after hurricane-related equipment losses, and one honoring Corporal Ronil “Ron” Singh of the Newman Police Department in California, who was killed in the line of duty.
