Fall River Police respond after Massachusetts State Police violently assaulted while serving warrant
Fall River Police are currently assisting Massachusetts State Police in a volatile situation.
According to Captain Barden Castro, at approximately 11:22 a.m., Fall River Police Communications received information that Massachusetts State Police were requesting immediate assistance at an address in the 600 block of Second Street in Fall River.
Castro stated that Massachusetts State Police are heading the incident, but based on the information he has, members of the Violent Fugitive Apprehension Unit were armed with an arrest warrant for a party at a particular address. Inside the home, while attempting to make the arrest, the troopers were violently attacked by several people in the residence and requested assistance from the Fall River Police.
The perpetrators were able to barricade themselves in the home and Fall River Police have closed off the area based on information obtained from the state police.
One person could be seen being taken into custody by police as the others were barricaded.
Massachusetts State Police has issued an update on incident on Second Street.
