The Fall River Police arrested a man Wednesday on a warrant and firearm charges

According to FRPD, on October 23rd, 2019 at approximately 5:00 p.m., Detective Matthew Mendes and Detective Gregory Homen were patrolling in the area of South Main Street and Globe Street when their attention was brought to a black Audi Q5 traveling east through the intersection of Globe and South Main Streets.

A radio broadcast had been sent out at 1:30 p.m. reporting that the vehicle was being operated in Fall River and an 18-year-old male named Kelvin Vickers was inside the vehicle possessing a handgun and that an arrest warrant was issued for Vickers by the Department of Youth Services. Detectives followed the vehicle and eventually stopped the motor vehicle on Stafford Road with assistance from Detective Eric Copsetta and FBI Special Agent Kornek.

Vickers was removed from the vehicle and placed in handcuffs for safety. Detectives performed a pat frisk and felt a hard object on the right side of Vickers waistband. Upon lifting his shirt, Detectives observed the grip of a handgun sticking out. The handgun was removed from Vickers waist and he was placed in the rear of the police cruiser.

Upon further inspection of the firearm, they were able to determine it was a .22 caliber High Standard Sentinel Revolver loaded to capacity with 9 rounds of ammunition.

Vickers was transported to the Fall River Police Department and charged with:
• Carrying a Firearm without a License
• Possession of Ammunition without an FID card
• Carrying a Loaded Firearm
