Fall River Police are investigating to try and determine if a shooting actually took place on Friday evening.

A call came into dispatch at just before 7:30 p.m. for a report stating that a gunshot went through a vehicle window in the area of Canal Street.

According to Deputy Chief Barden Castro, officers responded to the scene and upon speaking with the involved parties, received conflicting accounts regarding what occurred.

While it is clear that a motor vehicle sustained a broken window, there is currently no definitive evidence establishing that the damage was caused by a gunshot.

Castro stated that officers are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the damage and are working to determine its cause. At this time, however, both the witness statements and available physical evidence remain inconclusive.
