Fall River Police are investigating a road rage incident that involved both a gun and a tire iron.

According to Captain Barden Castro, Tuesday, at approximately 10:17 p.m., a detective assigned to the Vice Intelligence and Gang Unit of the Fall River Police Department was driving in the area of Eastern Avenue and Pleasant Street when he witnessed what was believed to be a road rage incident between motorists who were stopped for the light at the intersection.

The detective witnessed a man exit a silver car while brandishing a tire iron and yelling at the occupants of a red pick-up truck in a threatening manner. The detective then watched as a firearm was displayed out of the driver’s window of the red pick-up at the man from the silver car. The man with the tire iron then returned to his vehicle. As the light changed to green, the decision was made to follow the occupants of the red truck.

The silver car left the area and it is not yet determined who was operating that vehicle.

The red pick-up truck was eventually stopped by Uniform Division Officers.

During the course of the investigation of the incident, it was determined that charges unrelated to the “road rage” incident are being sought against the occupants of the truck.

Castro stated that due to the status of the investigation, additional details could not be released at this time.
