Fall River Police continue to investigate a Christmas Day shooting.

According to Detective John Robinson, on Tuesday at approximately 6:00 p.m., City Officers were dispatched to the area of Plymouth Avenue at Conant Street on a report of gun shots.  Upon arrival, Officer Raul Camara was given information that a black Chevrolet truck was seen leaving the area and may have been involved.

Officer Camara canvassed the area and located a vehicle with glass damage. As Officer Camara continued his canvass, he was approached by a male in a black truck who stated he was at the red light on Second Street when he observed two males, one of which was on the sidewalk and the other,‘the shooter’, was in the street. When he heard what he thought were low powered gunshots, he took off. Due to darkness, the witness could only describe the shooter as ‘wearing dark oversized clothing with thin legs’.

As Officer Camara continued his canvass of the area, he was approached by a 25 year old city woman who reported that she was travelling on Second Street and stopped at a friend’s to unload packages. As she was unloading, she observed two figures in the shadow of a building. When she finished unloading, she pulled away from the curb and passed the men. As she passed, she heard a loud pop, followed by a second one which sounded like an explosion because her passenger window shattered. An examination was performed on her vehicle and Officer Camara located a hole in her windshield as well as the shattered passenger window. In all, a total of four vehicles with damage were located in this event.

This is an ongoing investigation and anyone with information is urged to contact Fall River Police Departments Major Crimes Division: 508-324-2796, Officer Raul Camara of the Fall River Police Department’s Uniform Division 508-676-8511 or call the FRPD anonymous tips line at 508-672-TIPS
