A local man is dead after a pedestrian crash late last week.

According to police, on Thursday, at approximately 7:15 a.m. the Barrington Police Department received a 911 Emergency call advising of a car-pedestrian accident on County Road in Barrington near the intersection of Richmond Avenue, just east of the East Providence city limits.

The initial investigation revealed that a vehicle traveling eastbound on County Road struck a pedestrian, 78-year-old Richard Stolorow from Riverside.

Police stated that there is no crosswalk at the location of the accident.

Stolorow was transported to Rhode Island Hospital. On Sunday, Stolorow succumbed to his injuries from the accident.

The operator of the striking vehicle remained on scene and is cooperating fully with the investigation. The Barrington Police are still investigating with the assistance of the Cranston Police Department and Rhode Island State Police.

“On behalf of the men and women of the Barrington Police and Fire Departments, our deepest sympathy and condolences are extended to the family of Mr. Stolorow,” said Barrington Police Chief Michael Correia.
