Fall River Police are investigating after a man was injured this afternoon in a shooting.

According to Deputy Chief Barden Castro, at approximately 3:45 p.m., Fall River Police responded to the area of Third and Wade Streets due to reports of gun shots.

Upon arrival, officers determined it was evident by physical evidence that a shooting had occurred and that at least one person had been injured. Officers were subsequently able to locate a man at St. Anne’s Hospital suffering from a gunshot wound. Although the victim’s injuries are reported to be non-life threatening, he was ultimately transported to Rhode Island Hospital for advanced treatment.

Officers and Major Crimes Division Detectives are still on scene speaking with bystanders, witnesses, collecting evidence, and reviewing video footage of the area.

Castro stated that at this time, it is believed that the suspect may have fled the area in a motor vehicle, however, investigators are still trying to determine what took place.
