Fall River Police, FBI, arrest known gang member on drug and gun charges

Wednesday, Fall River Police and the FBI arrested an alleged gang member on drug and gun charges.

According to Lieutenant Jay Huard, members of the Fall River Police Department Gun Violence Task Force and FBI Gang Task Force were in patrol in the Flint area of the city.

At approximately 6:27 p.m., Detective Gregory Homen and Trooper Keith Ledin were on Rocliffe Street. Huard stated that this particular area has been very active with Asian Boy Crip (ABZ Boys) gang members.

The investigators observed a man that they both immediately recognized as a drug involved person who is a validated Asian Boy
Crip. The man walked up to the passenger side of an older model tan Toyota that was parked on the left side of Rocliffe Street.

Detectives further observed that there were two other men sitting in the Toyota. Both men in the auto were later identified as Asian Boy Crip gang members. Detectives then observed what they believed to be a drug transaction.

The two men that were seated in the auto were detained as part of the officer’s investigation. A search was conducted of the auto and Trooper Ledin located a black fanny pack on the passenger seat closer to the center console. A further search of the fanny pack revealed that it contained a silver and white 9mm handgun with five unfired rounds in the magazine. Officers also located an open plastic bag that was on the floor behind the front passenger seat that contained 11.5 blue/green pills that were identified as 30mg Percocet.

One of the auto’s occupants, a seventeen-year-old juvenile, admitted to ownership of both the firearm and narcotics. He was placed under arrest and charged with possession of a large capacity firearm, possession of ammunition without a FID Card, and possession of a Class B drug. This is the juvenile’s second arrest on firearm charges.

Police Chief Jeffrey Cardoza stated, “This is an example of three agencies working together to remove dangerous firearms from our community”.
