Massachusetts sees decrease in COVID-19 hospitalizations and 7 day average positive test rate

Massachusetts saw a decrease in hospitalizations in Thursday’s COVID-19 report which broke a string of 4 straight days of increases.

Massachusetts has seen 409 more positive cases announced today. A decrease from Wednesday’s report. The 7 day weighted average positive test rate dropped to 1.0% from 1.1%.

Massachusetts had seen 509 more positive cases announced yesterday.

The Massachusetts Department of Health statistics show a rise in total confirmed cases to 134,277 with 8 more reported dead for a total of 9,350.

14,035 tests were performed on new individuals, almost 2,100 less than yesterday’s report, to increase the amount of individuals tested to 2,360,825. The overall amount of tests administered in Massachusetts is now 4,541,516.

The 3 day average of COVID-19 deaths decreased to 12 from 13.

Hospitalizations have increased in 16 of the last 24 days, but decreased by 31 today to see the total lower to 484.

According to the CDC, as of October 8th, the total amount of COVID-19 cases in the country is 7,528,313 with 211,132 dead.
