Fall River Police Department arrests city man on warrants, drugs, after recovering stolen vehicle

Fall River Police made an arrest on Wednesday evening after an investigation.

According to police, Patrol Bureau Officers Jackson Tracy, David Claudio and Matthew Camara responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle near the intersection of Lawton and Renaud Street. While enroute, they received additional information about a stolen white van from Albion Street.

Upon arriving at the scene, the officers confirmed that the suspicious vehicle was indeed the stolen van.

38-year-old Billy Cordeiro was taken into custody as a result of the investigation. He was found to have outstanding warrants and was charged with illegal possession of cocaine as well as possession of the stolen van.

At his arraignment Thursday, Cordeiro pled not guilty and was held on $1,000 cash bail.

His next court appearance is a pre0trial hearing scheduled for February 25th.
