Fall River native makes return to UFC octagon after 2-year absence

A Fall River native made her long-awaited return to the octagon on Saturday.

After taking time away from the fight game to have her daughter Alayah with wife and current UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Raquel Pennington, Tecia (Torres) Pennington made her return at UFC Fight Night in St. Louis, Missouri.

“The Tiny Tornado” took her 13-6 record into a strawweight battle against 9-2 Tabatha “Baby Shark” Ricci of Brazil.

Pennington lost by a controversial split decision over Ricci despite landing more punches. It appears that the judges thought Ricci’s holding outweighed Pennington’s strikes.

Before Saturday’s bout, Pennington last fought in a controversial split decision loss to Mackenzie Dern at UFC 273 on April 9th, 2022, in Jacksonville Florida. She had won her previous 3 fights before that loss.

Always great when a hometown native makes it out of the lil city. I’m proud supporter of her and her accomplishment inside the ring , her personal life and who she married has no Impact on my life therefore that is not an area that needs to questioned or criticized by me or anybody else outside of her family setting ..
