Fall River Mayor Paul Coogan, Jasiel Correia issue individual statements in wake of guilty verdict

Fall River Mayor Paul Coogan has issued the following statement after Jasiel Correia II conviction on 21 counts today in United States Superior Court:

“This is a dark day for the City of Fall River and the end of a long chapter in Fall River’s history- a chapter that does not at all reflect the true character of our City. The verdict today confirmed that Jasiel Correia used the Mayor’s Office in Fall River for his own benefit. He made the unfortunate choice to use his official duties and powers to benefit himself, when he should have been acting in the best interest of our community.

“My thoughts are with the former mayor and his family as they navigate this difficult time. I urge my fellow elected officials to come together in the face of this decision so that we may work for the betterment of our community and the lives of our residents.

“As I have since my first day in office, I commit myself to honesty, transparency and dedication in service to Fall River. My hope is that this decision provides closure to our community so that we may move on towards the bright future that I know is ahead for Fall River.”

GUILTY: Ex Fall River mayor Jasiel Correia convicted in high profile case

Jasiel Correia II issued the following statement after the verdict.

“I just love my family and my friends that are out there.

“The people of Fall River know the job that I did for the City of Fall River was a good job.

“Unfortunately, the justice system failed us today, but our fight is not over. I have a very strong family, very strong friends, and I’m a very strong person, so I just thank everyone that is out there that has been praying for us. I thank God for the comfort he has given us every single day during this trial. We are not done.

“It’s not a great day, but I’ve had other not-great days and everyone here knows that, but we’re going to have a great day of vindication, and eventually the real truth will come out. There were no facts that were brought forward. There was no overwhelming evidence. Unfortunately, there were a couple of things that didn’t go our way that were technical today and that’s what our grounds will be for appeal. We will win that appeal and I will be vindicated. My future will be very long and bright.”

Not an ounce of remorse for the ppl he shook down or all the voters he conned. I hope he gets a maximum sentence as he clearly needs the full amount to obtain any real rehabilitation out of it. Screw this POS.

What a narcissist. It truly is a shame. I feel so sorry for his parents.

My question is, when will Jenny get back on the dating scene. No way she’s waiting 10 years for him.
