Fall River man pleads guilty to Armed Robbery and Armed & Masked Robbery

A Fall River man has pled guilty after being arrested in two separate armed robberies.
According to Sergeant Moses Pereira, on September 27th, 2022, at approximately 1:00 p.m., Officers Jonathan Souza and Kristopher Sousa responded to the area of Oak Street and Bank Street for a report of an armed robbery which had occurred earlier in the day.
The victim explained to officers that as he entered his vehicle on Oak Street, he was approached by an unknown male. The male brandished a knife and demanded money from him. The victim complied with his demands and the suspect fled on foot.
The victim was able to safely follow the suspect and observed him entering a nearby residence.
Officers located a male fitting the victim’s description at that residence. He was taken into custody and transported to the Fall River Police Department Headquarters to meet with detectives.
At the conclusion of the investigation, now 59-year-old Ronald S. Joncas of Fall River was charged with the armed robbery which occurred on the morning of September 27, 2022. He was also charged in connection with the armed robbery which occurred at the Star Market on Sunday September 25, 2022.
According to court records, on Monday, Joncas pled guilty to Armed Robbery and Armed & Masked Robbery and was returned to jail pending his sentencing which is scheduled for Wednesday.
