Fall River man arrested after reportedly crashing into multiple vehicles
A 24-year-old Fall River man has been arrested after reportedly causing destruction to multiple cars.
According to New Bedford Police, on Monday, officers responded to the area of Newton Street and Mill Street for a report of a motor vehicle crash. When they arrived at the scene, they observed two parked vehicles with extensive damage and a silver Toyota facing the wrong way on Newton Street with extensive damage to the front end, passenger side, and driver side.
The driver of the silver Toyota, identified as Alex Mejia, of Fall River, was found outside of the vehicle and unsteady on his feet.
After conducting a series of field sobriety tests, Mejia was arrested and charged with reckless operation of a motor vehicle with a suspended/revoked registration, an OUI, operating a motor vehicle the wrong way on a one-way street, and a driver’s license not in possession.
Police stated that while in booking, a chemical test was performed on Mejia which resulted in a 0.21% BAC. Almost 3 times the legal limit.
