SASH®is a FREE program available at Saint Elizabeth Place that offers coordinated supportive services to help you live safely and healthfully at home.

Saint Elizabeth Haven for Elder Justice is a program within Saint Elizabeth Community that offers a safe place for a frail elderly victim of abuse to stay for a short period of time.

The primary purpose of your job position is being responsible for providing assistance in the preparation and serving of meals, including entrees, desserts, beverages, salads, setting tables, setting up trays, and cleaning dietary areas. You are also responsible for cleaning and sanitizing all dishes and utensils, as well as setting up supplies for next meal. In addition, you are responsible for carrying out the assigned duties and responsibilities in accordance with current existing federal and state regulations and established facility policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Serves meals that are palatable and appetizing in appearance.
2. Services food in the dining room and dayroom kitchens, as instructed.
3. Serves food in accordance with established portion control procedures according to both, the menu and the resident diet cards.
4. Assists in daily or scheduled cleaning duties, in accordance to established policies and procedures.
5. Cleans and sanitizes workbench, shelves, refrigerators, freezers, etc.
6. Keeps work area clean, dry, and free of hazardous equipment, supplies, etc.
7. Responsible for setting tables, trays, food carts, dining room, etc.
8. Records food temperature before serving food.
9. Delivers food carts, trays, snacks, etc., to designated areas as instructed.
10. Performs dishwashing/cleaning procedures, assuring that utensils, etc., are readily available for next meal.
11. Removes food trays from carts, dining rooms, etc., and takes to dishwashing area.
12. Prepares and sets up food supplies for the next meal, including desserts, salads, breads, etc., in accordance to the menu.
13. Prepares and delivers snacks, drinks, supplies, etc., daily.
14. Responsible for ensuring sufficient supplies in the dining room.
15. Prepares and delivers coffee, hot water, and supplies to the Green House daily.
16. Assists in coordinating, planning, and preparing for Coffee Hour activities weekly.
17. Participates and assists in departmental studies and projects as assigned or that may become necessary.
18. Attends and participates in monthly department meetings as scheduled.
19. Attends all mandatory in-services.
20. Assists with orientation and training of dietary aides.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Observes and follows all safety policies and procedures of the facility.
2. Observes and follows infection control procedures.
3. Maintains dietary service areas in a clean and sanitary manner by assuring that necessary equipment and supplies are maintained to perform such duties/services.
4. Handles food, etc., in accordance with sanitary regulations, as well as the facility’s established policies and procedures.
5. Reports all hazardous conditions/equipment to the Supervisors and/or Food Service Director immediately.
6. Reports all accidents/incidents as established by department policies.
7. Assists in maintaining food work areas in a clean and properly arranged manner at all times.
8. Dispose of food and waste in accordance with established policies.
9. Wears protective clothing and equipment when handling infectious waste and/or blood/body.
10. Follows established departmental policies and procedures, including appropriate dress codes.
11. Serves on, participates in, and attends various committees of the facility, as appointed by Food Service Director.
12. Follows recommendations from established committees as they pertain to dietary services.

QUALIFICATIONS
• Must have a minimum of 9th grade education.
• Some experience preferred, but not necessary due to on-the-job training provided.
• Some knowledge of food preparation, cleaning, and various tasks in the dietary department, safety rules, and infection control; aware of special diets; ability to handle cleaning supplies and equipment; operate dish machine, sort, stack, and store clean dishes.
• Professional standards and code of ethics must be adhered to at all times.
