Fall River holding free scenic and historical Interlachen walk
If you are looking for a historical walk in Fall River, this event may be for you.
Join historian Bill Goncalo and forester Mike Labossiere as they lead a tour of Interlachen on Saturday, November 16th.
The seasons change but Interlachen – Fall River’s island forest at the Watuppa Reservation – never loses its mystique. Almost 60 acres in size, Interlachen is home to the familiar Arctic Ice and Cold Storage ice house ruins and also Colonel Spencer Borden mansion remains. The site offers broad views of North Watuppa Pond as well as close scenes of rambling farm walls and ornamental landscape accents that evoke times past.
The Meridian Street gate will open at 9:30am and parking will be on-site. The walk will be from 10-12 and is free to all. Sorry, no dogs allowed, restricted drinking water supply area. Rain date is Saturday, November 23rd. For more information call (508) 324-2749.
