Fall River highway crash leads to woman being rushed to New Bedford trauma center

Several Fall River crews responded early Wednesday morning to a highway crash with entrapment.

At just before 1:45 a.m. a call came into dispatch for a crash alert on Route 24 North in the area of exit 2.

According to Fall River EMS, Medic 3 and Squad 11 responded with Massachusetts State Police, Fall River Fire Heavy Rescue 1, Engine 4 and Ladder 2 for a report of a motor vehicle accident. Original calls stated 1 car had driven off the road and into the woods.

First responders responded to find 1 vehicle very deep into the woods. Emergency crews did not hesitate to jump into action, all 3 agencies coming together as 1, entering the woods to make contact with the patient. The patient was found in her car and entrapped. Extraction measures were performed by Fall River Fire to extricate the patient that was approximately 100-150 yards into the woods.

The patient was treated and transported by Medic 3 to Saint Luke’s Hospital Trauma Center in New Bedford.

The crash is under investigation.
