Fall River Police have issued an update on Wednesday’s double shooting.

According to Det. Sergeant Moses Pereira, this afternoon, at approximately 1:50 pm units were dispatched to a 3rd floor apartment on the 100 block of John Street after the Department received multiple calls regarding a male who had been shot.

Upon arrival, officers located a male and female, both suffering from gunshot wounds to the chest area.

After speaking with the victims in this case, the Major Crimes Division is investigating what is now being reported as a single unintentional discharge of a firearm, which resulted in injuries to both parties based on their proximity to one another. Evidence collected at the scene appears to support the information provided by the victims.

Both parties remain hospitalized, although their injuries are not considered life-threatening.

The male will remain in police custody as a Fugitive From Justice, due to the presence of an outstanding arrest warrant in the State of New Hampshire for an unarmed robbery.

The Major Crimes Division continues to investigate the matter. It is expected that one or both victims in this case will face criminal charges for firearms related offenses.
