ERO Massachusetts arrests convicted Brazilian drug trafficker with an active Interpol Red Notice
BOSTON — Enforcement and Removal Operations Boston recently arrested a convicted Brazilian drug trafficker in Abington. 22-year-old Vitor Gabriel Ferreira De Souza is the subject of an active Interpol Red Notice and was sentenced to 15 years in prison in Minas Gerais, Brazil, in October 2022.
“I’m very proud of the courageous work of our ERO Boston officers, who were able to apprehend and remove this dangerous convicted foreign drug trafficker from our streets,” said ERO Boston Field Office Director Todd Lyons. “We will not tolerate the presence of drug traffickers who attempt to flee justice in their own country by hiding in our communities.”
Interpol is the international criminal police organization that supports law enforcement authorities worldwide to share and access data on crimes and criminals. An Interpol Red Notice serves as an international wanted notice and provides information on the identification of fugitives charged with or convicted of serious crimes who have fled prosecution or the serving of their sentence.
