A Massachusetts man is dead after an early morning crash despite the efforts of a bystander and responders.

According to Chief Michael Carbone, at approximately 1:15 a.m. this morning, Duxbury Police Officers responded to a reported motor vehicle crash on North Street in Duxbury.

Arriving officers found a 2019 Ford F-150 which had impacted a large tree on the side of the road. The truck was heavily damaged, its operator was outside the vehicle, and he appeared to have been ejected from the vehicle.

A witness on scene was performing CPR on the driver when officers arrived. Officers and Duxbury Fire personnel continued CPR and the driver was transported to South Shore Hospital by Duxbury Fire Department personnel.

The driver was identified as 49-year-old, Jason Haen of Pembroke. Shortly after arriving at the hospital, Haen was pronounced dead.

Preliminary investigation indicates that Haen was alone in the vehicle, with no other vehicles were involved. Speed appears to have been a factor in the crash.

Hean was being remembered Saturday by those who knew him as a great human being and family man.

The incident remains under investigation by Duxbury Police and the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section.
